Stand-Up Reach Truck Operator / Inventory Receiver

Turkana Food South LLC is actively seeking an experienced, reliable, and safety-focused *Stand-Up Reach Truck Operator / Inventory Receiver* to join our warehouse team immediately. This is a fast-paced food distribution warehouse environment. We are looking for someone who is confident operating a stand-up reach truck, understands warehouse organization, and can work independently with minimal supervision. *IMPORTANT:* This is *not an entry-level forklift position*. Applicants *must have prior stand-up reach truck experience*. Candidates without hands-on reach truck experience will not be considered. Perform all warehouse related duties including maintaining the appearance of the warehouse and entire facility. Duties include but are not limited to clearing of debris, pallets and cartons, sweeping, vacuuming, cleaning bathroom, emptying trash and tidying shelves. Maintain appearance of yard and parking area by removing trash daily. Verify accuracy of incoming orders by counting before product is securely stocked on racking and organized/stocked correctly to prevent damage. Immediately report discrepancies to supervisor. Process, prepare and receive all product shipped by UPS. Use/maintain counter notebook. Other duties as assigned. Preferred Education and Qualifications: Exemplify excellent verbal communication skills with the general public and/or customers. Excellent attitude and interpersonal skills necessary to service customers in the branch, on the telephone or at the delivery site. Demonstrated proficiency while operating a computer and Prophet 21. Ability to read invoices, catalogs, stock numbers and descriptions to accurately identify items. Work Environment: Fast-paced environment where frequent interruptions may occur. Requires frequent bending, climbing, movement, and lifting during physical loading/unloading of trucks and when stocking products. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme cold and extreme heat. The work schedule is typically Monday through Friday and some Saturdays (half day). This is a safety sensitive position. Creates detailed summary of each shipment by way of buck slips and/or freight bills, ensures proper end processing of customer orders including removing shipping trays from conveyor system, ensures proper packaging of products, and places large parts and shipping trays for each customer on their designated skid location. Plans, organizes, and loads trucks from skids to trucks for delivery to customer, accurately records piece count for customer on the buck slips, and keys freight bills into computer terminal. Cleans up and disposes boxes, packing material, and pallets, as well as general housekeeping of facility and specific product line areas. Follows and adheres to all safety rules including the handling of hazardous materials. Loads customer orders into delivery trucks in proper sequence and according to freight bills. Qualifications At least 1 year previous experience stocking, loading, or pulling. High School Diploma, or equivalent experience, required. Must be functionally literate and capable of understanding and recognizing part numbers and line codes to ensure proper identification of parts for placement in the facility, including identifying sequence of numbers and letters accurately and rapidly. Must be able to write legibly. Must have basic understanding and be capable of operating a computer terminal. And, perform associated duties as assigned by management. Must be capable of lifting and moving parts of up to 60 pounds and push/pull 300 pounds using hitch-and-go dolly. Must be able to move engine blocks and other heavy equipment with moving aids designed to move such items, including hand trucks, dollies, motorized carts, pallet jacks, etc. Must be able to repeatedly bend or stoop to ground level shelves and be able to reach upper shelves (8 feet) with the use of stool or ladder when necessary. Job Summary: Properly load and unload freight using a forklift, pallet jack, hand truck or by hand Strap, brace and pad freight to prevent damage or shifting Responsible for accurately recording the condition of freight as it arrives at the service center Perform pre-shift and post-shift inspection of dock equipment Regular attendance is required.
