This role is responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering patient care using the nursing process, evidence-based practice, and sound clinical judgment. The Oncology RN functions as a direct caregiver, patient educator, and clinical resource, with responsibilities that include chemotherapy administration, symptom management, patient education, and care coordination. This position reports to the Practice Administrator and works closely with the oncologist and interdisciplinary care team. Key Responsibilities Implement, monitor, and evaluate individualized patient care plans Assess, document, and communicate patient conditions, responses to treatment, and care needs Carry out and document provider orders accurately in the EHR Monitor for changes in patient condition, including abnormal labs and adverse drug reactions, and initiate appropriate interventions Facilitate dose or schedule modifications through patient assessment, lab review, protocol consultation, dose calculation, and provider collaboration Administer hydration, medications, chemotherapy, biologic agents, and blood products per physician direction Mix chemotherapy medications as a backup to the pharmacy technician Perform routine nursing procedures including IV insertion, port access/flush, infusion pump connections/disconnections, and adverse reaction management Accurately administer and monitor chemotherapy and non-chemotherapy medications via all routes of administration Validate independent double-checks for chemotherapy administration Adhere to all safety protocols related to chemotherapy handling and hazardous waste disposal Triage patient phone calls, addressing concerns promptly and escalating when necessary Provide patient and caregiver education on treatment plans, medications, side effects, consents, and discharge instructions Coordinate discharge planning and follow-up care with the interdisciplinary team Ensure compliance with OSHA, regulatory, and accreditation standards Maintain accurate logs and operational readiness of the treatment area (e.g., biomedical waste, crash cart, refrigerator temperatures, AEDs) Participate in professional development, continuing education, and policy/procedure development Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and the overall patient experience Serve as a collaborative, flexible team member in support of OCP’s mission Perform other duties as assigned Key Competencies Strong passion for oncology patients and caregivers Excellent critical thinking and clinical judgment Clear, compassionate communication skills (verbal and written) Comfort and proficiency with EMR systems and healthcare technology Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment Qualifications Minimum of 1 year of RN experience in an oncology or Med/Surg setting, including infusion and chemotherapy administration Current Florida RN license (BSN strongly preferred) Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) required within 24 months of hire BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association) Bilingual (Spanish/English) strongly preferred U.S. work authorization required Benefits Medical, dental, and vision insurance Paid time off Additional Requirements Oncology RN experience: 3 years required Languages required: English and Spanish Ability to commute to or relocate to Miami, FL 33176 prior to start date Work location: In-person Salary $37-$45 per hour depending on experience.

You will ensure safe and effective nursing care until your patient is transferred from your care to recovery. What you will do in this role: Evaluate patients prior to surgery Provide patient and family education surrounding the procedure and peri-operative process Assume responsibility for patient preparation, including intravenous therapy, preoperative medications, and surgical site verification Participate in surgical site verification, including briefing, time out, debriefing, and universal protocols, according to hospital policy Recognize and respond to patient emergencies Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while managing evidence-based practices and continuous improvement initiatives Be an integral member of a dynamic interdisciplinary team – consisting of the provider(s), surgeons, surgical technologists and more Consistently apply the nursing process, critical thinking skills, scientific judgment, technical skills and leadership to independently deliver safe nursing care to patients Assess patient condition, monitor throughout your shift, and document changes in patient condition along with the care provided thoroughly Educate patients and families/caregivers about the patient’s medical condition, treatment and follow-up measures Qualifications you will need: Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing Minimum 1 year of experience in an operating room setting, preferably in an ambulatory surgery center Active RN license as required by state of employment or appropriate compact licensure Valid BCLS Certification upon employment ***online certification not acceptable ACLS as required by facility CNOR certification preferred Jacksonville Surgery Centeris a leading provider of outpatient surgical services in the Duval County area.
