Answer phone calls from other healthcare facilities regarding any referral requests and advising them as to what steps need to be taken in order to get that request fulfilled. Ensuring that the referrals requested by the providers are processed accurately and in a timely manner. Reach out to the provider or scribe in regards to any missing referral information or errors (i.e. No relevant dx codes to the referral, no updated notes in regards to the referral, clarification of the request by the provider.) Obtain authorizations from the insurance companies. ( includes filling out and faxing additional forms to obtain outofnetwork authorizations) Obtaining additional forms from the providers when specific referrals are requested ( sleep study forms, concussion clinic forms) Ensure all referral faxes are sent successfully and collect all confirmation sheets. Distribute incoming faxes to the appropriate team member or department. Reach out to specialists to obtain information such as accepted insurance and availability to get more options to send referrals to. Ensure referrals are filed in an organized manner so they can be easily found and pulled if needed. Log processed referrals to keep track of which ones have been processed and a daily count. Respond to messages from OP and patient portal. Check and respond to voicemails left in personal voicemail box, referrals team voicemail box and Patient Liaison voicemail box. Performs other related duties as assigned by management. POSITION SUMMARY The Endoscopy Registered Nurse is responsible for assessing, observing, managing, and documenting individual patient care. This includes providing bedside pre-op, intra-op, post-op care and supervision to patients at our Endoscopy Center(s). In addition, the Endoscopy RN must collaborate with the physicians and the physicians’ clinical team to maximize patient flow. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Have the patient identify him/herself and check armband identification and chart, making sure all match. Review patient history. Completes nursing assessment upon admission, identifying/documenting patient problems. Identifies special needs or behavior of patients and families. These may be physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, or age-specific. Analyses information and observations and notifies appropriate medical personnel of significant concerns. Initiates/revises nursing care plans to meet changing patient needs. Involves family/significant other and patient in developing a plan of care and communicates rationale. Uses teaching strategies that meet individual patient needs for post-procedural care. Ensures all pre-procedure instructions are followed at home (outpatient). Informs appropriate physician. Carries out physician orders, questioning the physician if orders are unclear. Delivers direct patient care as defined by Florida State Board of Nursing and/or Endo Center policies and procedures in a safe and competent manner. Validates and carries out orders on assigned patients. Supervises Scope Technicians under his/her direction in the provision of nursing care. Ensures patient's privacy and dignity are maintained. Assists other team members in rendering nursing care. Documents patient progress to include condition, medication, and nursing interventions. Notifies physician of any significant changes. Maintains knowledge of care and handling of GI equipment. Assist Physician intra-op utilizing GI accessories. . ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES Assist in janitorial responsibilities as needs arise.
