About the Role: The Quality Inspector, Certified Welding Inspector, CWI, Weekend Night Shift is responsible for ensuring compliance with welding codes, quality standards, and Department of Transportation requirements within a structural steel fabrication environment. This role supports bridge fabrication and heavy steel manufacturing by performing inspections, coordinating QC hold points, and maintaining adherence to AWS, AISC, and project specifications. The position operates on a 4th shift schedule, Friday through Sunday, 5:00 PM to 5:00 AM, and plays a critical role in maintaining production quality, safety, and regulatory compliance. Responsibilities: Coordinate quality control hold points between production teams and DOT inspectors to ensure required witnessing and documentation are completed. Perform visual inspections of materials, welds, and fabricated components in accordance with AWS D1.5, AISC, and project specifications. Conduct dimensional inspections, layout checks, and geometric tolerance verification using precision measurement tools and Total Station equipment. Perform rotational capacity testing of high strength bolts prior to installation in accordance with applicable standards. Monitor welder qualification tests and verify compliance with approved Welding Procedure Specifications, WPS, and Procedure Qualification Records, PQR. Record and verify welding parameters to ensure adherence to established welding codes and quality standards. Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, specifications, and welding codes to validate fabrication accuracy. Collaborate with production supervisors, welders, and shipping personnel to resolve quality issues and ensure inspected assemblies are ready for shipment. Conduct Quality Management System audits and maintain accurate inspection logs, reports, and documentation. Press Brake and Punch Operator Reports To: Manufacturing Team Lead, Metal Forming FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Employment Type: Full-Time Hourly Schedule: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM Pay: $24-26/hour About the Role The Press Brake and Punch Operator forms the metal components that support Q-PAC’s finished products. This position is responsible for setting up and operating sheet metal equipment, including press brakes and turret punches, to produce accurate, high-quality parts that meet print and tolerance requirements. The consistency and precision of this work directly impact downstream assembly, product fit, and overall manufacturing efficiency. Key Responsibilities Machine Setup & Operation Perform routine pre-operation checks and basic equipment cleaning. Set up and operate CNC sheet metal equipment, including press brake and turret punch machines. Install punches, dies, and tooling appropriate to material type, gauge, and job specifications. Load and adjust programs, including bend angles and back gauge settings. Perform test bends and verify measurements prior to production runs. Production & Processes Interpret blueprints, work orders, and specifications to ensure accurate part production. Run parts at a steady pace while maintaining required tolerances and quality standards. Clean, deburr, label, and prepare parts for the next manufacturing step. Complete required ERP documentation accurately and on time. Quality & Equipment Oversight Inspect finished parts for dimensional accuracy and surface defects using appropriate measuring tools. Identify and communicate tool wear, program errors, or machine irregularities. Escalate recurring quality or equipment concerns to supervision. Material Handling and Team Collaboration Transport sheet metal materials and finished parts safely within the facility. Maintain organized material storage and manage scrap appropriately. Maintain a clean and organized work area to support safety, quality, and production efficiency. Collaborate with team members, share knowledge, and support cross-training to meet team objectives. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma OR equivalent technical experience. Proven experience in operating press brake, turret punch, or other CNC sheet metal equipment. Working knowledge of material thickness, bend allowances, and fabrication tolerances. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and work orders. Strong attention to detail and quality. NFPA 70E and forklift certifications required within 90 days of hire (training and support provided). Physical Requirements Must be able to stand, walk, bend, reach, lift, carry, push, and pull materials and components weighing up to 50 pounds regularly throughout the workday. Must be able to perform repetitive hand, wrist, and arm motions. Must be able to wear required PPE such as gloves, safety glasses, and steel-toed footwear.
