Summary: The Material Planner is responsible for planning, scheduling, releasing, and tracking of workflow from order placement to customer shipment to keep production running smoothly. Roles & Responsibilities • Create and release jobs for independent and dependent customer demand utilizing material requirements planning (MRP) processes and other strategic processes to satisfy customer demand, desired stocking levels, and maintain flow of work on the factory floor. • Plan and monitor inventory levels and planning parameters to avoid shortages and excess manufactured and purchased parts. • Shortage identification, management, and mitigation, which involve working closely with the procurement organization on strategies that reduce shortages, yet maintain inventory and cost objectives, along with strategies to help reduce excess inventory. • Excess inventory identification and mitigation. • Communicate and coordinate with production supervisors and purchasing to receive buy in to build plans and to ensure schedule adherence and recovery if required. • Participate and analyze production readiness reviews for production ramp ups, slowdowns, and customer terminations. • Manages the planning and coordination of resources to ensure production schedule commitments are completed by established deadlines. • Perform diversified analytical duties related to the identification and resolution of materiel management problems to meet program schedules. • Manage level loading of manufactured and procured parts. • Maintain continuous status of orders in Production, Stock Rooms, Receiving and Shipping and expedite orders as required to maintain workflow. • Initiate and participate in continuous improvement activities related to production planning, factory floor thru put and inventory management. Job Summary: CT Mechanical is seeking a skilled Stainless Steel & AC Duct Welder for field-based work on active job sites (this is not a fabrication shop role). You will weld, fit, and install stainless steel and sheet metal duct assemblies, transitions, plenums, and related HVAC components in the field. The ideal candidate brings strong TIG (GTAW) experience on thin-gauge stainless, can control heat and distortion, and understands airtight, code-compliant duct systems. Experience collaborating with HVAC installers and sheet metal mechanics is highly valued. Responsibilities: Perform field welding using TIG (GTAW) as the primary process on stainless steel duct and fittings; use MIG (GMAW) or spot welding where appropriate per spec. Prepare joints and fit-ups (cleaning, beveling where needed, precise tacking) to ensure proper penetration and appearance on thin-gauge material. Use argon back-purging on stainless welds when required to prevent oxidation/sugaring on the root side. Weld common duct joints (butt, lap, fillet) and continuous seams to achieve airtight, liquid-tight welds where specified. Read and interpret blueprints, isometrics, duct layouts, and welding symbols; verify dimensions and elevations in the field. Fabricate and install field-made transitions, takeoffs, angle rings/flanges, and equipment connections as needed on site. Control heat input and distortion on thin gauge (approx. 16–22 ga) materials; grind, brush, and finish welds to spec; perform passivation when required. Ensure welds comply with project specs, SMACNA standards, and applicable codes; follow NFPA 96 requirements on grease duct where applicable. Perform quality checks, including visual inspection and leak/pressure testing of welded duct sections when required. Coordinate daily with HVAC installers, sheet metal mechanics, foremen, and project managers to sequence work and avoid trade conflicts. Operate portable welding rigs, grinders, shears, notchers, nibblers, plasma cutters, and hand tools safely; maintain equipment and consumables. Follow all OSHA and company safety procedures, including lockout/tagout, hot work permitting, fire watch, fall protection, and confined space protocols. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area on active job sites; perform other duties as assigned. Role Requirements: High school diploma or GED. 4 or more years of welding experience with stainless steel in HVAC/sheet metal or closely related field; strong TIG (GTAW) on thin gauge required. Demonstrated proficiency controlling heat/distortion on thin-gauge stainless; clean, uniform, code-compliant welds. Ability to read blueprints, duct drawings, and welding symbols; solid layout and measurement skills. Familiarity with SMACNA standards; understanding of NFPA 96 for grease duct where applicable. Experience with back-purging techniques and proper stainless preparation/finishing; basic knowledge of passivation. OSHA 10 preferred; ability to gain access to state and federal institutions. Must pass drug test and background check; valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. Comfortable working at heights, on lifts, ladders, and in varying weather conditions; able to lift up to 75 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
