About the Role A private family in Jacksonville is looking for a patient, organized homeschool teacher to lead daily instruction for their grade-school child and to support that learning with positive behavior strategies grounded in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). The right person pairs solid elementary teaching with the calm, consistent approach of a behavior technician. You'll work one-on-one in the family home, follow a grade-school curriculum, and shape your methods around how this student learns best. If you have strong ABA experience but aren't certified yet, that's fine. The family will sponsor your certification. What You'll Do Teaching * Plan and teach a full grade-school curriculum: reading, writing, math, science, and social studies, one-on-one. * Build daily and weekly lesson plans and adjust the pace to the student's progress. * Track progress and keep simple records of work completed and skills mastered. * Prepare the student for any curriculum or state benchmarks that apply. Behavior Support (ABA) * Use ABA-based methods (positive reinforcement, prompting, breaking tasks into steps) to build focus, routine, and on-task behavior. * Collect basic data on learning and behavior targets, then adjust the approach based on what's working. * Keep a calm, structured learning space with clear and consistent expectations. * Coordinate with the family and any outside providers (BCBA, occupational or speech therapist) so the approach stays consistent. General * Give the family short, regular updates on how the student is doing. * Protect the privacy of the family and household at all times. What We're Looking For * Experience teaching or tutoring elementary-age children, ideally one-on-one. * Hands-on experience with Applied Behavior Analysis, whether as an RBT, behavior technician, special-education aide, or in a similar role. * Patience and consistency, with a knack for keeping a young learner engaged. * Strong skills in classroom management and behavior support. * Clear communication and reliable, punctual attendance. * Comfortable working one-on-one in a private home. * Able to pass a background check (Florida Level 2 screening) and provide professional references. Nice to Have * RBT certification (Registered Behavior Technician), or BCaBA / BCBA. * Florida teaching certificate, or a degree in education, special education, or psychology. * Experience homeschooling or teaching from a set curriculum. * Experience supporting children with learning or developmental differences. * Current CPR and First Aid certification. Certification Sponsored Strong ABA experience matters more to us than a certificate already in hand. For the right candidate who isn't yet RBT-certified, the family will pay for the RBT training and certification, or for comparable special-education coursework. What We Offer * Competitive hourly pay, set by experience and credentials. * Paid RBT or special-education certification for the right candidate. * A steady weekday schedule and a single, focused student. * A supportive family that takes the role seriously. * Room to grow into a full-time position. Please list any certifications you hold (RBT, teaching license, CPR) and include at least two professional references. We are an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will be considered without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, or any other status protected by law.
