The role includes leading research on digital health interventions such as AI-driven communication tools, chatbots, behavior ontologies, and virtual agents, studying the diffusion of health information and misinformation across media ecosystems, and advancing ethical and equitable applications of AI in healthcare. The individual will serve as a key internal and external representative of the research program, collaborating across multidisciplinary teams including clinicians, data scientists, and informaticians. They may represent the principal investigator at national or international meetings and contribute to strategic partnerships with academic, industry, and public health stakeholders. The Research Scientist will lead and manage independent and collaborative research projects in AI-enabled health communication and digital health, contribute to programmatic development in areas such as virtual trials, AI-driven patient engagement, and health equity research, mentor trainees and junior investigators, provide intellectual leadership in study design and methodology, and support teaching and training activities aligned with the investigator’s program. Qualifications The Research Scientist candidate must have a doctoral level degree and a minimum of 6 years of postdoctoral research training at Mayo or elsewhere (8 years preferred). Candidates must demonstrate a strong, independent research program in health communication, digital health, or AI in healthcare, particularly involving social media, misinformation, or health disparities. Expertise in computational methods such as natural language processing, machine learning, or social network analysis applied to health-related data is expected. The candidate should have experience in interdisciplinary collaboration with clinical, public health, or biomedical research teams and a track record of extramural funding, high-impact publications, and national or international recognition. The candidate must hold or be eligible for an academic appointment at Mayo Clinic and demonstrate the ability to contribute to an established, high-impact research program. Preferred Qualifications: Experience leading research on AI-enabled health promotion, digital interventions, or chatbot-based communication tools is preferred. GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB: The individual in this role performs all the activities necessary to implement safe and effective technical operations in all assigned units. The Bio Medical Technician understands and operates all of the equipment necessary to perform his/her duties including but not limited to water treatment, hemodialysis machine maintenance, and ancillary medical equipment maintenance. This individual ensures proper documentation and participation in quality control activities as required elements of this position. This individual is responsible for inventory management of all supplies and equipment and performs all work safely, effectively, and in a manner that is consistent with State and Federal regulations and Company policies and procedures. This individual provides safe, effective, and compassionate care that is consistent with State and Federal regulations and Company policies, procedures, and guidelines and within his/her scope of practice. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Execute and monitor all technical activities in accordance with Company administrative, financial, and quality policies and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance with all local, state and federal rules and regulations. Responsible for day-to-day operation and maintenance of all medical equipment, including water treatment plant, solutions delivery systems, hemodialysis machines, and other ancillary equipment required for delivery of safe, patient care. Perform all preventative maintenance inspections in accordance with Company policies and procedures, and any state regulations. Maintain adequate “par” levels to meet monthly needs and keep supply inventory area(s) in a neat, organized manner. Maintain inventory of repair and maintenance parts Demonstrate effective communication with clinical staff, patients, vendors, and home office. Routinely inspect water system components, bicarbonate/acid system components for proper operation, settings, and conditions. Perform RO and distribution system sanitizations per manufacturer’s recommendations, or more often, as indicated by microbiological test results. Collect, prepare, and submit water and dialysate samples for chemical and microbiological testing per Company policy. Train and provide in-service educational sessions for staff on various important biomedical shared duties Review, record and/or maintain documentation of all water test results. Participate in clinic Quality meetings SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Serve as the Center Safety Officer by educating patients and staff on proper safety methods. Receive and/or maintain documentation of supply order deliveries, including timely delivery of packing lists and invoices to the accounting department for posting and payment.
