R&D Formulation Assistant

Sawgrass Nutra Labs is hiring an R&D Formulation Assistant to support the development of capsule, powder, and liquid dietary supplements.
This is a hands-on, entry-level opportunity for someone who enjoys precise work, practical problem-solving, and learning how products move from an initial idea through testing and commercial manufacturing.
*The most important qualities for this position are exceptional attention to detail and strong practical math skills. *Our formulations require accurate calculations, precise measurements, careful documentation, and the ability to recognize when something does not look right.
No previous nutraceutical experience is required. We will provide training on dietary supplement ingredients, formulation methods, documentation requirements, manufacturing processes, and applicable cGMP procedures.
*What You Will Do*
· Prepare small test batches of capsules, powders, and liquid products.
· Measure and combine ingredients by following clear formulas and instructions.
· Use basic math to measure ingredients, adjust amounts, and help scale formulas up or down.
· Double-check your work and ask questions when something does not look right.
· Make small changes to samples to help improve flavor, texture, appearance, mixing, and dissolving.
· Learn about ingredients by reviewing supplier information and product specifications.
· Keep clear notes about your work, observations, samples, and formula changes.
· Label, organize, and keep track of samples and ingredients.
· Help evaluate samples by looking at, smelling, tasting, and measuring them when appropriate.
· Assist with test batches and learn how products move from the lab into production.
· Observe and record how formulas perform during manufacturing.
· Work with team members in R&D, Quality, Production, Purchasing, Sales, and Project Management.
· Keep the R&D area clean, organized, and safe.
· Follow written instructions, safety practices, sanitation procedures, and company documentation requirements.

· Exceptional attention to detail, particularly when working with numbers, formulas, measurements, and technical documents.
· Strong practical math skills, including arithmetic, percentages, decimals, ratios, unit conversions, and proportional calculations.
· The ability to independently check calculations and identify values that may be incorrect or inconsistent.
· The discipline to follow written formulas and procedures precisely without making undocumented changes.
· Basic proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, email, and electronic recordkeeping.
· Strong organization and the ability to manage multiple assigned tasks without losing accuracy.
· Clear written and verbal communication skills.
· Willingness to ask questions and seek clarification rather than make assumptions.
· Ability to accept technical feedback and apply it consistently to future work.
· Dependability, professionalism, and respect for confidential customer and company information.
· Genuine interest in learning product formulation and building a career within R&D.
· Ability to work full-time on-site in Jacksonville, Florida.

No previous dietary supplement or nutraceutical experience is required.
Experience in any of the following areas would be considered a plus:
· Laboratory or sample-preparation work
· Food or beverage production
· Quality control or quality assurance
· Pharmaceutical or cosmetic compounding
· Powder blending, weighing, batching, or inventory control
· Flavor or sensory evaluation
· Work involving formulas, measurements, controlled procedures, or detailed documentation

Sawgrass Nutra Labs is a Jacksonville-based dietary supplement contract manufacturer. We help brands develop and manufacture capsule, powder, and liquid products through formulation development, ingredient sourcing, bench sampling, flavor optimization, reverse engineering, production, packaging, and fulfillment.
This position offers the opportunity to learn directly within a growing R&D department while helping create products that move into commercial manufacturing.
*Compensation and Work Setting*
The salary range is $45,000-$55,000 per year, depending on transferable experience, demonstrated math and technical skills, attention to detail, and overall qualifications.
This is a full-time, on-site position in Jacksonville, Florida. Benefits and paid time off are provided in accordance with applicable company plans and policies.
The position involves working in office, laboratory, warehouse, and dietary supplement manufacturing environments. Candidates must be able to wear required personal protective equipment and work around food ingredients, powders, flavors, odors, and identified allergens.
Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
