Oncology Registered Nurse – Part time

The Registered Nurse under general supervision provides care of patients with hematologic malignancies and oncologic diagnoses. This includes medical and radiation oncology. Schedule Availability: Part-Time, 24 hours weekly. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following: Follows standard policies and procedures to carry out medical orders. Assess patient and family learning needs, physical and mental abilities, and readiness to learn. Provides teaching and other instructional material. Demonstrates awareness of community resources available to patients and assists with referrals if necessary. Administer chemotherapy, biotherapy, hydration, hematopoietic growth factors and other medications under the direction and supervision of a physician. Monitors, analyzes, and communicates laboratory data, imaging, and other tests for determination of changes in patients’ status. Communicates all pertinent information and any interventions to the physician. Performs assessment of patients in the areas of biophysical needs, psychosocial needs, performance status score, self-care needs, educational, spiritual and emotional needs. Demonstrates competency in the performance of simple and complex diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as venipunctures, care of vascular devices, and dressing changes. Demonstrates competency in telephone triage, including the ability to assess the problem and plan the appropriate patient intervention. Completes Tasks in ONCO EMR system in a timely manner. Documents nursing assessments, patient teaching and fluid and medication administration in the patient chart. Acts as a resource person to medical assistants and other staff. Adheres to safety and quality control measures such as Occupational Safety and Health Administration, infection control, and sterilization criteria. Maintains a clean and safe environment. Provides nursing coverage to other CSNF clinics as needed. Mentors and serves as a preceptor for less experienced staff as needed. Maintains patient confidentiality All other duties as assigned. What qualifications you will need: Must be a graduate from an accredited school of Nursing: Associate’s Degree in Nursing or higher is required. BSN is highly preferred.
