Senior Quality Assurance Engineer

Intercontinental Exchange | Jacksonville, FL 32246

Overview: Job Purpose We are seeking an experienced Senior Quality Engineer to join our Atlanta-based engineering organization. In this role, you will assume end-to-end responsibility for the functional quality of core business applications, spanning test strategy, automation, manual and exploratory testing, defect management, and quality reporting. This position sits at the forefront of how our organization applies artificial intelligence to software quality. You will use AI tooling throughout the entire QA workflow, from requirements analysis through test authoring, coverage gap analysis, automation, execution, and reporting. We are looking for an engineer who treats AI as a core part of the craft rather than an occasional convenience, and who can establish those practices for others to follow. This is a hands-on individual contributor role that does not require people management. However, as a lead, you will mentor fellow quality engineers, raising the technical capability of the team and helping colleagues build fluency in both modern test automation and AI-assisted engineering. Responsibilities End-to-End Functional Test Ownership Assume full accountability for functional test coverage of assigned applications, including the user interface, service layers, and integration points. Be hands-on across the full stack for assigned applications, including manual and exploratory testing, automation, and end-to-end integration testing. Define and maintain the application's test strategy, determining what is tested, at which layer, and at what cadence. Act as the quality authority for the application, providing evidence-based release readiness assessments to engineering and product leadership. AI-Enabled Quality Workflow Evaluate user stories, acceptance criteria, and design documentation to surface ambiguities, missing edge cases, and untestable requirements prior to development. Generate candidate test cases and scenarios from requirements, then apply engineering judgment to refine, consolidate, and prioritize them. Compare the implemented codebase against the existing test suite to identify uncovered paths, ineffective assertions, and divergence between specified and actual behavior. Assess each test for automation suitability based on stability, execution frequency, maintenance cost, and exploratory value, and make defensible recommendations on automated versus manual execution. Build and maintain Playwright automation, using AI tooling to accelerate authoring, refactoring, debugging, and long-term maintenance. Operate automated suites within CI/CD pipelines and conduct manual and exploratory testing where automation is not the appropriate instrument. Triage, reproduce, document, and drive defects to resolution, using AI-assisted analysis to shorten root-cause isolation. Produce clear, decision-ready reporting on coverage, execution results, defect trends, and release risk. Test Framework Development Contribute substantively to the organization's existing QA automation framework, extending its capability, improving stability, and strengthening maintainability. Design and implement a test automation framework from first principles when required, including architecture, page and component abstractions, fixtures, test data management, environment configuration, CI integration, and reporting. Establish and enforce automation standards and design patterns that keep test suites fast, reliable, and readable. Technical Leadership and Mentoring Mentor quality engineers on test design, automation architecture, and the effective and responsible use of AI tooling. Lead by example through code review, pairing, and hands-on guidance; identify skill gaps within the team and create opportunities for colleagues to close them. Serve as a resource for the broader engineering organization on quality practices and AI-assisted testing methods. Partner with software engineers, product managers, and DevOps to shift quality activities earlier in the delivery cycle. Knowledge and Experience 7+ years of professional experience in software quality engineering, including substantial hands-on test automation work. Demonstrated depth with Playwright, extending beyond test authoring to suite architecture, flakiness mitigation, test data strategy, and execution at scale within CI. Practical, applied experience using AI-assisted engineering tooling as part of a routine development or testing workflow — for example, AI coding agents, AI-assisted test authoring, or AI-supported code and requirements analysis. Strong foundation in functional testing, including test design techniques, risk-based prioritization, boundary and negative testing, and structured exploratory testing. Proven experience building a test automation framework from the ground up, with the ability to articulate the architectural decisions involved. Proficiency in TypeScript or JavaScript, or comparable programming experience with the ability to become productive quickly. Experience owning both automated and manual testing for an application, with sound judgment regarding the appropriate application of each. Working knowledge of defect and test management tooling such as ADO, Jira, Xray, or equivalent. Equivalent years of strong Loss Mitigation business domain knowledge may be acceptable in lieu of technical experience. Prior experience mentoring or leading others. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; test plans, defect reports, and quality summaries must stand on their own without narration. Preferred Qualifications Hands-on experience with Loss Mitigation or similar Servicing applications/processes. Hands-on experience with Claude Code or a comparable AI coding agent. Experience creating AI agent skills and custom agents, and using Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers, including building MCP servers when existing tooling is not sufficient API test automation experience across REST or GraphQL, including contract testing. Experience introducing AI tooling to a quality organization and establishing team-wide standards for its use. Background in a regulated or high-reliability domain. -: Intercontinental Exchange, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer. With over 1,000 employees worldwide, we are scaling rapidly, fueled by our most recent strategic partnership and $35 million investment. This positions us for the next phase of growth as we continue to empower drivers along their journey. Our Culture At CarParts.com, our culture goes beyond our core values of Safety First, Customer Focused, and Commitment to Excellence. We are a performance-driven, data-focused, and fast-paced team where results matter and winning is expected. - Hungry & Hardworking: We set ambitious goals, measure progress with clear metrics, and hold ourselves accountable to deliver results. - Promote from Within: We reward top performers with opportunities for growth and advancement. - Collaborative & In-Person: We believe the best ideas and fastest execution happen face-to-face. - High Standards: We move quickly, pay attention to details, and dig deep - whether it’s analyzing contracts, aggregating complex scenarios, or building clear, data-driven presentations. - No Passengers: We value grit, ownership, and the relentless pursuit of results Summary of Role/Position The DC IT Senior Manager is a modern warehouse operations technology and engineering leader who bridges the gap between distribution center operations and the technology that powers them. This person leads technology operations and support teams across CarParts.com's distribution center network (JAX, GPT, LSL, LAS1), and is equally comfortable talking through a picking, packing, shipping, or inbound receiving workflow with an ops leader as they are diagnosing a wireless network issue or a device fleet problem with their own team. The ideal candidate understands how a DC actually runs — picking, packing, shipping, receiving, inbound, and inventory control — and brings genuine curiosity about the technology layer underneath all of it: the handheld devices and applications DC associates use every day, the wireless network those devices depend on, and enough depth on networking to partner credibly with the headquarters network team. This is someone who stays composed and solutions-focused when operations is under pressure to hit SLAs and outbound quality targets, turning that urgency into fast, clear technology action, and who leads a team below them with a proactive, metrics-driven, automation-focused approach to engineering. YOU WILL: Own uptime and availability targets (99.9%+) across all systems supporting the DC network and hold the team accountable to SLAs — with a clear view of how downtime translates into picking, packing, shipping, and outbound quality impact for the operations team. Build, lead, and develop a team of IT Service Analysts and technicians across all four DC sites, including hiring, performance management, coaching, and staffing plans. Serve as the technology partner to DC operations leadership across picking, packing, shipping, receiving, inbound, and inventory control, maintaining deep working knowledge of the devices, wireless network, and applications DC associates use daily, and partnering with the headquarters network team on design, troubleshooting, and capacity needs across all sites. Establish and oversee escalation protocols for critical incidents, ensuring appropriate coverage during business and non-business hours across sites — staying composed and solutions-focused when operations is under pressure to hit SLAs and outbound quality targets. Drive root cause analysis and post-incident review processes for high-priority incidents; partner with software engineering leadership to prioritize fixes, defects, and workflow optimization. Set and oversee standards for technology infrastructure across DC sites — end-user devices (IP phones, desktops, mobile devices, handhelds) and network infrastructure (switches, access points, connectivity, firewalls) — managing vendor relationships and escalation paths. Champion a metrics-driven, automation-focused approach to the team's own operations — identifying where proactive monitoring or automation can reduce incidents before they hit the floor, rather than just responding faster after the fact. Own technology investment strategy — evaluating new solutions, building the business case, and managing department budget, vendor contracts, and capital planning for DC technology infrastructure. Maintain working knowledge of SQL Server scripting and WMS systems to guide team troubleshooting and technical decisions. YOU MUST HAVE: 5+ years of experience in DC Operations/Warehousing technology support, including 2+ years in a people management or team lead role 4+ years of experience supporting technology in an e-commerce organization with multiple distribution centers Experience managing distributed teams across multiple physical sites 3+ years of WMS system experience 2+ years of Windows Server administration and knowledge of DHCP, DNS, and file servers 2+ years of experience overseeing desktop support operations for hardware/software solutions Experience supporting RF Devices, Mobile Printers, and Label Printers at scale 2+ years of network administration and troubleshooting, including APs, switches, and routers Demonstrated experience developing process documentation and standard operating procedures across sites Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with experience presenting to senior leadership Proven ability to build and lead high-performing technical teams with minimal supervision A continuous improvement mindset for team development, process, and innovation Ability to manage competing priorities across multiple sites and deliver on tight deadlines Availability for on-call escalation and flexibility to support DC Operations, system updates, and new technology rollouts across time zones Additional Good to Have Certifications: MCSA or MCSE certification A+ Hardware/Networking certification A+ Security certification PowerShell scripting PMP or equivalent project management certification Equal Opportunity Employer CarParts.com is an equal-opportunity employer. We enthusiastically accept our responsibility to make employment decisions without regard to race, religious creed, color, age, sex, sexual orientation, national origin, religion, marital status, medical condition, physical or mental disability, military service, pregnancy, childbirth and related medical conditions, or any other classification protected by federal, state, and local laws and ordinances. Our management is dedicated to ensuring that we fulfill this policy with respect to hiring, placement, promotion, transfer, demotion, layoff, termination, recruitment advertising, pay, and other forms of compensation, training, and general treatment during employment. The above-noted job description is not intended to describe, in detail, the multitude of tasks that may be assigned but rather to give the incumbent a general sense of the responsibilities and expectations of his/her position.
