Boiler Plant Mechanic

Under general direction and according to diagrams, operation manuals and manufacturers' specifications; the Boiler Plant Mechanic/Operator tends one or more boilers to produce steam or high-temperature water; tends one or more centrifugal chillers; tends one or more low-pressure and high-pressure air compressors; tends all related auxiliaries, pumps, regulators, meters, blowers, fans, de-mineralizers, softeners, electrical, mechanical and pneumatic control devices. The Boiler Plant Mechanic/Operator also uses the computer system for operations in order to meet government and manufacturer's specifications. Maintains a log of various aspects of operations. Additionally, according to diagrams, operation manuals, and manufacturer's specifications, performs complex repairs and overhaul of central heating plants, their components and auxiliary equipment; including automatic or manually controlled boilers, burners, pumps, regulators, meters, blowers, fans, de-mineralizers; electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic control devices and air compressors. Performs chemical analysis of boiler water and cooling towers and chemical treatment as required; determines fuel requirements and maintains all related pumps, valves, and piping. Inspects and runs preventive maintenance routines and safety checks according to the government and manufacturer's specifications. Uses hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring and testing equipment and devices. Inspects, repairs, and replaces defective parts and components as necessary to ensure continuous and safe operation. Assists government personnel during the annual certification inspections. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications High school education or equivalent Four (4) years experience in repair, operation, and overhaul of boiler plant and related equipment, both stationary and mobile Must understand chemical treatment of boilers and cooling towers Knowledge of the use of general and specialized tools to perform necessary repair operations Ability to troubleshoot systems and components Must possess the standard tools of the trade Must possess a valid state driver's license Must have and wear hard-toed safety shoes that meet ASTM F2413-05 standards. Successful candidate will be subject to a government security investigation and must continually meet eligibility requirements for access to all areas of Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance. Supervisory Control System. Makes decisions and restores service by supervisory control on transmission and distribution systems in accordance with operating procedures. Implements the Cooperative’s load shedding procedures during generating capacity shortages or emergency conditions when requested by Seminole Electric Cooperative’s System Coordinator or the FRCC Reliability Coordinator. Controls generators and load management systems as requested by Seminole Electric Cooperative. Monitors Power System. Monitors voltage and load levels on the power system and takes corrective action on system alarms for SCADA/Load Management and power system. Receives and relays pertinent information and data as received. Obtains weather information important to system operation and load management and takes appropriate action as necessary. Reports major outages and other unusual conditions to the Energy Control Supervisor. Operation of Equipment. Operates all equipment associated with the Energy Control Center such as computer systems, radios, printers and load management equipment. Produces and Distributes Documentation. Maintains records and logs as required by operating procedures. Distributes documents to appropriate personnel. Coordination. Assists with coordinating activities between the Cooperative and Seminole Electric Cooperative, Florida Power & Light and Duke Energy Florida on repair and patrol of their lines during routine and emergency conditions. PURPOSE OF POSITION: The Custodian is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of both the interior and exterior areas of the facility, including production areas, restrooms, offices, and common spaces, while complying with safety and environmental standards. This position will be for our first shift. Shift hours are from 6:00am - 2:30pm, Monday through Friday. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors in production area, break rooms, restrooms, hallways and office spaces. Dust surfaces and wiping down furniture and fixtures. Empty trash bins and dispose of waste in safe and environmentally responsible manner. Clean and disinfect restrooms; replenish supplies (toilet paper, soap, etc.) as needed. Maintain cleanliness in all common areas including break rooms, Conference rooms, and entryways. Ensure cleaning supplies are fully stocked and properly maintained. Complete janitor checklists at the end of each shift. Notify maintenance manager when repairs or maintenance are required. Clean and sanitize refrigerators on a weekly basis. Handle cleaning chemicals according to safety guidelines. Follow safety protocols and war appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). Perform routine cleaning tasks, including window washing, dusting, and surface cleaning. Maintain supply order lists and submit them to the buyer for replenishment of cleaning supplies. Assist with additional duties as requested by the manager. COMPETENCIES: Ability to follow written and verbal instructions from the maintenance team. Capability to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong time management skills. Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain cleanliness in a fast-paced environment.
