Ways to Meet New People In JAX

The Jacksonville region may seem big, but there are so many ways to meet new people! Northeast Florida offers endless opportunities to expand your social circle.

Join a Facebook Group

In this day and age, social media is a great way to meet new people. Facebook specifically has a feature where you can join a group based on shared interests or for people living in the same area. Here are a few groups for JAX locals:

Jax Ladies Social: Attention all ladies! If you’re in the market to meet other kind and supportive women, then this is the perfect group for you. This group hosts a few events each month, so it is a great way to build new friendships and see what JAX has to offer.

New to Jacksonville: Moving to JAX soon? This Facebook group allows you to connect with your future neighbors and discover different events and activities that are happening around the city. (Be sure to check out our neighborhoods page as well to learn more about your new home!

What’s Shakin’ Jax?: Live music lovers, this is the group for you. What’s Shakin’ Jax talks about upcoming live music events, while also encouraging the community to come together.

 Join a Club

Want to be surrounded by a group of people with similar interests? There’s truly something for everyone here in JAX. Here’s some different clubs throughout Northeast Florida:

French anyone!?: Love all things France? This club is for anyone that speaks French, is French or just loves France’s culture! This club meets up frequently and is a great way to meet other France enthusiasts.

Jax Beach Runners: If running is right up your alley, then this club might be a good fit! This club gets together multiple times a month and encourages all types of runners to join! No matter if you are a beginner or a pro, this is a fun way to connect with other members in your community.

The Jacksonville Dachshund Meetup Group: Meeting new people in your community while being surrounded by dogs? Yes please! If you have a dachshund at home, check out joining this club! Not only is it a great way to meet new people, but it also gives your pup the chance to socialize and make new friends.

JAX Fray: If you’re a sports fanatic, then JAX Fray is a great club to join! From basketball to axe throwing, this club offers many different sports leagues where you can sign up as an individual player or part of a team. Not only does this group have different leagues, but they also host events for everyone in the club. Keep an eye out on their events page for upcoming get-togethers!

Volunteer

Volunteering is a nice way to not only give back to your community, but it also gives you the chance to connect with the other volunteers. There are multiple non-profit organizations throughout JAX that are always looking for new volunteers:

Jacksonville Humane Society: Have a passion for animals? Volunteering at The Jacksonville Humane Society is an amazing way to brighten up an animal’s day, while meeting people with a similar interest. JHS offers many volunteer programs, so no matter what stage of life you’re in, there is a perfect fit for you.

St. Johns County Public Library System: If you enjoy reading, the St. Johns County Public Library is always looking for new volunteers. Apart from the various tasks that are assigned from (example of a task) to (example of another task), you can connect with your fellow volunteers as well as the people visiting the library. For book lovers, finding someone to talk about your favorite book with is a great way to start a new friendship.

JASMYN: JASMYN is a non-profit organization that focuses on helping the LGBTQIA+ youth around Jacksonville. Keep an eye out on their website for volunteer opportunities!

Go to a Networking Event

Networking goes beyond just growing your business – it’s also a helpful tool for high school and college students. If you are waning to make new connections that will help with your career pathway, networking is a great option.

Here are a few organizations that frequently host networking events:

Jacksonville Business Professionals: This group is designed to help grow and support the JAX community through fostering collaborative business success. JBP hosts multiple events each month for members to demonstrate their professional knowledge and skills while developing trusted business relationships.

Next Up JAX: Next Up JAX is specifically designed for professionals between the ages of 21-40 and allows them to get together and support one another. From social gatherings to getting together to work at a non-profit, this program is a great way to connect with your community.

Rotaract: Service, friendship and building community connections are what brings the young professionals of this group together. Rotaract offers many different clubs that you can join – visit their website and fill out the form, then they will connect you with the right group for your area.  These clubs are a great way to gain new leadership skills and connect with different leaders in the region!

If you are a high school or college student, keep an eye out for networking events happening at your school! It is never too early to build your connections.

Attend Events Throughout the Region

One of the nice things about JAX is that there is always an event going on. Whether that be a concert in Downtown Jacksonville or a farmer’s market in Palatka, Northeast Florida has something for everyone.
