JAX Ranked as #2 Hottest Job Market
Looking for a hot job market? Look no further than Jacksonville, Florida!
JAX ranked as the 2nd hottest job market in the United States and the top market in Florida by The Wall Street Journal this week, jumping from 3rd in 2023. The rankings measured five factors: the unemployment rate, labor-force participation rate, job growth, labor-force growth and wage growth.
Quite frankly, JAX is where the jobs are. There are more than 3,000 jobs in the targeted industries of advanced manufacturing, financial services, life sciences, technology services, transportation & logistics and corporate operations are available in JAX.
From Fortune 500 companies to innovative startups, you can find it here, including relocations or expansions in recent years from data analytics powerhouse Dun & Bradstreet, fintech firm Paysafe, contact lens manufacturer Johnson & Johnson Vision and aerospace visionary Redwire Space.
In addition to a hot job market, there are plenty of reasons to #MovetoJAX:
- JAX has a cost of living lower than the U.S. average and, with Florida’s zero personal state income tax, that means you get more of your paycheck!
- There are 220 days of sunshine a year, 87 miles of Atlantic Coastline, the largest urban park system in the country and an enviable climate which makes getting fresh air in the great outdoors a piece of cake. We’ve been known to catch the waves in the a.m. at one of our many beaches and run the bridges of downtown Jacksonville with a day at the office in between a time or two (or 10).

- The vibrant and diverse food scene has our mouths watering daily. Whether peeling shrimp straight from the sea at authentic fish camps or saying “cheers” to special occasions over cocktails and cuisine from James Beard Award nominees, you’ll find any fare at any budget that cleanses your palate.

- The music scene is off the charts. From intimate clubs to outdoor music festivals, JAX has homegrown favorites to international recording artists. This month, we’re excited to welcome the return of JAX River Jams along the St. Johns River, catch funky fusion brass band music at Colonial Oak Music Park in St. Augustine and cozy up over candlelight and songwriters at JAX Beach’s Blue Jay Listening Room.

- JAX is welcoming newcomers from all over the world only adding to the diversity of our population. As the job market in JAX heats up, an increased number of new residents are planting roots in Northeast Florida with an average of 100 new residents per day.
