Find Your JAX Ambassador

Leah Palestrant

In addition to the chosen friends that have become my family here, I love Jacksonville for its vibrant community, diverse cultural opportunities, and the beautiful natural surroundings, from its beaches to its parks. The city’s strong sense of community and the chance to be deeply involved in local initiatives, even as a young professional who didn’t grow up here, make it a place I’m now proud to call home.

Why Other Young Professionals Should Move to JAX

Young professionals should move to Jacksonville for its growing job market, affordable cost of living, and vibrant social scene. The city offers a unique blend of career opportunities, a supportive community, and a great quality of life with access to beaches, outdoor activities, and a rich cultural landscape. As a young leader who didn’t grow up here, I have found it easy to get involved and be asked to hold leadership positions on boards, etc.

Biography

After moving to Jacksonville 14 years ago to be a high school Biology teacher with Teach For America, I am engrained myself into the Jacksonville community as a dedicated leader in the Jewish community as I work remotely for Hillel International. I am a passionate servant leader who is on the Ethics Commission with the City of Jacksonville, coaches Special Olympics, and even played for Jacksonville Roller Derby for 5 years before having my son about 2 years ago.
