Rob M. Software Developer, IT Industry
After growing up in the Republic of Panama, I was drawn to an area in close proximity to the ocean. The Jacksonville Beach community is a great mix of a laidback lifestyle and friendly people. We’re lucky to have the most miles of shoreline than any other city in the country with an array of uncrowded beaches where you can kick back and relax. I will never choose to live anywhere else.
Heard the Saying the Grass is Always Greener?
I moved away from Jacksonville and around the country trying to find something “better,” from Massachusetts to Texas to Ohio. I quickly found out that none of these other locations compared to Jacksonville. So, I decided to move back to JAX, buy a house at the beach and start a family. I’ve had a lot of job offers from some pretty cool companies, but if there’s one thing I learned, it’s that the grass is actually great here in JAX!
Let’s Take a Day Trip
Anything water related is right up my alley and there’s plenty of it around Jacksonville. A favorite day trip of mine is grabbing the family and hopping in a boat bound for Fort George Island. The island is a cultural state park where you can bike, canoe, hike, fish or even hunt for the Florida State Park Geotour Cache. There’s something for everyone to do at Fort George and the island’s rich history might just surprise you.
Kids Have a Bright Future Here
Now that I’ve started a family, I want to make sure my kids have the opportunity to get a great education. Finding an ideal school here was never an issue for my wife and me. The Northeast Florida region is home to some of the highest performing school districts in the state, with more than 180 A and B schools, and there is 10 nationally recognized high schools in the area. Luckily there are so many great schools to choose from!
