Prateek T. Financial Manager, Financial Services Industry
Moving my family from Delhi to Jacksonville, I hadn’t heard too much about the city. I knew that Jacksonville is the largest city by area in the U.S.; is very sparsely populated; and has the same climate as Delhi. We were excited that the beach would be so close. Naturally we were a little hesitant moving to a new country but were open to the opportunity to explore and take in another culture.
The most welcoming surprise to my family was the scenic beauty of the city. The beaches, Riverwalk and city of St. Augustine are so calm yet full of positive energy. My favorite part of the move was house hunting. We travelled to different parts of the city and had the pleasure of visiting beautiful complex after complex. At night my four-year-old daughter and I sat by our hotel’s riverside for some time; taking it all in.
Anyone considering a move to Jacksonville should know this: You will love the city and the city will love you back. After experiencing the bliss at the Hindu Temple of Northeast Florida and the beach at sunset, I knew I had found my JAX. I am excited to start my exploration of this mesmerizing city with my family. I know we will create memories here that we will cherish forever.
A Welcome Embrace
There were initial challenges in understanding the culture and the lifestyle of Jacksonville. All our concerns were addressed and answered by JAXUSA Partnership and with the assistance from Berkshire Hathaway Florida Network Realty, we were very comfortable in a month's time
Don’t be influenced by dated, negative reviews online. Jacksonville is a great city with the perfect mix of a small town and big city in one. I am consistently impressed by the fantastic people here who greet you as you walk by and are willing to lend a hand when you need help. There is a good education system for children, ample food and shopping options, and lots of activities to get involved in. I’m excited at the prospect of learning a new hobby and JAX has many offerings of that sort including golf, baseball, basketball, water sports and even learning to fly a plane. The possibilities are endless.
