I love to run and JAX has an avid running community! It’s home to the largest 15k in the country, the Gate River Run. On any weekend throughout the year I can find a fun run to participate in … sometimes two or three. My favorites are the Evergreen Pumpkin Run in October and the St. Paddy’s Day run in March. For runners with some serious goals, like qualifying for the Boston Marathon, the 26.2 with Donna race is a Boston qualifier.
My #ilovejax Day
My ideal day is to grab an iced coffee with my fiancé at Brew Five Points and then head to breakfast at Maple Street Biscuit Company. We would spend the afternoon at the beach and visit Safe Harbor Seafood for lunch. Later that evening we would head over to San Marco to try out the local craft beer at Aardwolf Brewing Company and finish our night off at BB’s with some delicious bread pudding.
Take It From Me
JAX is a really safe place to live. Trust me, I’ve lived in every major Florida city and Chicago. Honestly, I would rather raise my family here in JAX over Tampa or Miami as total crime has actually decreased by 30% since 2008. It’s more of a community here with better schools.
My JAX Pick
My choice for those who move to JAX is to check out the Five Points area in the Riverside-Avondale Historic District. It’s an eclectic mix of foodie stops and vintage shops and outdoor cafés and local breweries. It’s a bohemian neighborhood that will give you a taste of the rich history in JAX.
